So here I am. Approximately 6 weeks until my soldier leaves. As I was browsing the internet for websites that offer support for significant others left behind, I noticed a familiar trend. Blogs. Lots and lots of blogs. And so I thought to myself: Self, I like to write. I like to talk. A blog sounds like a fabulous idea! A blog will be a great addition to my support system for this upcoming deployment.
Very quickly, here are a few things about me & my love before I go:
I'm 28 years old. I work as a Compliance Officer for a multi-specialty physician group. I am a reformed party girl who now just wants the simple things in life. Ahhhh yes. The house, the dog, the kids....all that jazz.
My love is 32 years old. He is a Lieutenant in the Army. He is nonchalant and likes to observe people. He is a true Sociologist (what his degree is in) and drives me nuts sometimes because he tries to "read" me. lol
The saying opposites attract is totally true for us because I am this bubbly ball of energy almost all the time and he is always so calm. But it works. Because he counteracts my drama. And makes me realize a lot of the time that things are not as bad as I make them out to be.
He makes me feel safe. Protected. He is my rock. And now I understand that I must let my rock go so that he can do his job. Protect our country. Any girl dating a military man knows that this is a possibility, but in the back our minds we pray it never happens to us.
So I'm counting down the days until I have to say goodbye. I'll be back with more later. This was just an introduction. =)
